Employment Opportunities:

Conservation Law Foundation (CLF) is a nonprofit, member-supported organization with offices in Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont. CLF staff work in one of our four program areas:   Clean Energy and Climate Change, Clean Water and Healthy Forests, Ocean Conservation and Healthy Communities and Environmental Justice.

CLF is New England’s leading environmental law advocacy organization.  Since 1966, CLF has worked to protect New England’s people, natural resources and communities.  CLF works to promote renewable energy, fight air and water pollution, protect forests and wildlife, build healthy fishing communities and protect marine habitat, fight sprawl, promote public transit and defend public health.  CLF is well known for its role in obtaining precedent-setting court victories addressing a wide range of issues including cleaning up Boston harbor, protecting endangered right whales, enjoining major highway projects, promoting mass transit, stopping offshore oil and gas drilling on Georges Bank, and implementing extensive energy efficiency programs.

CLF also houses CLF Ventures (CLFV), a non-profit affiliate working with clients on a fee-for-service basis to further projects with both environmental gain and economic advantage.

Candidates should be familiar with the full range of the donor cycle – identification and research, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship – and will be expected to manage a portfolio of individual donors and prospects.  In addition, the individual giving manager will help the vice president staff the state boards and development committees, and should be comfortable with working with volunteers.

Candidates should be highly organized, poised, good-humored and willing to pitch in on special projects with little notice.  CLF seeks individuals who are problem solvers with high personal and professional integrity.  Exemplary interpersonal skills are key, as the individual giving manager will interact with a wide variety of people including CLF staff, board members, donors and vendors.  An understanding of environmental issues or a background in environmental studies or advocacy is a plus.

Qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree and at least five years of development experience, including at least three years of individual fund-raising experience.  Schedule requirements include occasional nighttime and weekend work as well as the willingness and ability to travel (up to 10% of time) throughout New England.
