Returned to coastal NH/Maine 3 years ago from the industrial Midwest and have been wondering about the rusty metal pile sitting on the Piscataqua River at the Route 1 bypass. Apparently Grimmel Industries, a company that says it’s recycling waste materials, has been polluting the river with mercury and PCBs for years? And the EPA is now taking action via Clean Water Act? I’m amazed that no one I asked about the pile seemed particularly up in arms about it. Do you have an e newsletter I could subscribe to? Then I can begin to think about how I might be able to be of help…

    Hi Beth,

Thanks for your support! You can read about CLF’s involvement in getting EPA to prompt Grimmel Industries to clean up their act here: http://www.clf.org/blog/clean-water-healthy-forests/epa-takes-action-to-end-toxic-pollution-of-nhs-piscataqua-river/.

You can sign up for CLF’s e-communications on our homepage, clf.org. Scroll all the way down to the bottom and on the far left there’s a box labeled “Stay Involved: Sign up for updates” where you can enter your e-mail address.
