Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts. I based the ocean temperature comment on the press release from NOAA on April 25th, 2013 which I have a link to in the article, and the marine species comments on various stories I have been reading over the past several months (including the one linked in the article). 

We do talk in many of our other blogs about climate change and fisheries issues, but the intent of this short piece was to demostrate the value of ocean planning in the face of all the pressures on our ocean ecosystem. 

I am happy to provide sources beyond the links in the article if you are interested.
