To say that the State of Vermont only wanted a "super sweet" deal with Entergy is absolutely wrong, though it used to be true under Governor Douglas's administration. The Legislature that voted 26-4 against allowing Entergy to continue operating VY past the end of its license, voted on the basis of Entergy's long history of broken promises, mismanagement, deceptions and outright lies to state officials. Judge Murtha's decision, like that of the Supreme Court in the Citizen's United case, was wrong, and if allowed to stand will set an incredibly dangerous precedent that even people who support Entergy will live to regret as the impacts of corporate power and abuse spread to other sectors.

Ms. Levine may know something about the law, but calling VY "obsolete" and "dirty" proves that she doesn't have a clue about how Vermont Yankees operates or its operational track record. Look up "Coal-fired power plant" on Wikipedia, Ms. Levine, if you want to see "obsolete" and "dirty".
The state wanted a supersweet power deal from Entergy that they couldn't negotiate, so the Legislature used politics to preempt the "Certificate of Public Good" portion of the MOU. Of course they are all for Hydro power on a floating cost per kw rate and nuclear power from Seabrook Station is fine because it is NIMBY.
