What is the diameter of this pipe? Why can’t we shoot an unarmed torpedo in here after it has been fitted with anti reverse fins similar to a concrete anchor? After it is lodged inside than back fill with hydraulic cement which works in water and then expands. Actually you could use a solid rubber plug which could be compressed enough to shoot inside and then release the compression. Another Idea is to shoot a heavy duty rubber balloon inside and then rapidly expand it using compressed gas similar to what you would find in welding tanks.

I don’t get it . What are you upset with. He is doing now and has been doing all along what Bush and the conservatives were doing. Most of the old Bush guard is still in place. He has followed the conservatives on the useless wars overseas and expanded them he is doing what the bankers want on Wall street. Geithner and Paulson were Bush friends. Candidate Obama was for single payer health care and instead he is coddling the insurance companies. You Tea Party people are drinking more than tea.

The Deep Water Horizon disaster is tangible evidence of the consequences that we bring down upon ourselves when we expect that the earth will provide us with an infininte supply of non-renewable resources so that we can drive bigger SUV’s, drive our spoiled, lazy kids to every event or gather their social lives demand as opposed to walking, public transportation or pedaling a bicycle. We expect an uninterrupted supply of crude oil so that we keep our ever-larger houses warmer in winter and cooler in summer. We can maintain the correct temperatures in our indoor and outdoor pools with the endless supply of oil to produce the necessary current. One of the greatest travesties I have ever witnessed as an excuse for a greater energy demand: a heated driveway that is nearly a half-mile long that does not need to be plowed, sanded or shoveled in the winter! And windfarms! Now please tell me, what would you rather have on your private Cape Cod beach, tar balls from millions of gallons crude oil, or windmills that generate electricity without risking an environmental disaster that can compare to the Exxon Valdez or the Deep Water Horizon Platform disaster?
Clearly, the oil companies are relentless in their efforts to maintain a strangle hold on the world’s energy dependent economy. I the reader is as long in the tooth as the author, the reader may recall the Oglesmobile, an internal combustion fuel delivery system that depressurized and evaporated the fuel before it reached the fuel distrubition system. After many enegineering struggles overcome with brilliance and innovation, the inventor succeeded in overcoming the obstacles inherent with delivering vaporized gasoline to a carbeuration device. The modified fuel delivery system created a beast made from Detroit Steel that squeezed over fifty miles from a gallon of gasoline. This was at a time when any American made sled that could get more tha twenty miles from a gallon of motion lotion was considered an “econobox”. Solar power, wind power, water power, nuclear power, any power derived from source that did not rely exclusively on oil was consistently an deffectively torpedoed by the major oil players of the world.
Before I sign off here, the reader must understand that my political leanings are such I can be considered an enlightened conservative. A person who chooses to an alternate lifestyle is not inherently evil until that same person says I need to think as he/she does. A woman who chooses to seek a safe medical abortion, performed by a licensed physician in a duly regulated hospital should never be told that it is not her right. As a male, I have never been pregnant and harbor no aspirations to seek sucha condition. By the same token, I shall never profess any desire to regulate, restrict or control a woman’s right to choose. A gun owner is not a murderer until he/she commits murder. Taking guns away from law-abiding citizens does not make for fewer murderers or fewer murders. Such actions only serve to stomp of the indiviual rights guaranteed by the constitution. Where I come from, I can’t have an outstanding parking ticket and own a gun. I have never even so much as pointed a gun at anyone and no intention of ever doing so. As a hunter, I have used a rifle or shotgun to kill (yes, I used the word) an animal, harvest the animal’s meet for food, sold skins to tanneries, gave pheasant feathers to an old man who makes fishing lures for those who have more patience that I. My irritation comes from those who find hunters and like-minded sportsmen and women repulsive, yet those same citizens who sit in judgement of hunters and other sports persons will consume the bovine flesh, as well as that of birds and sea creatures without a tinge of remorse. How do you spell HYPROCRACY? Maybe we shoould ask the people of Alaska or the Gulf Coast States how they spell it.
How does this relate to the Deep Water Horizon disaster? A reader with any modicum of intelligence has already asked this question. The answer can be found here. Whether liberal, moderate or conservative, capitalist, socialist or communist, gay, bi or straight, we all have to share this same rock until we are each inevitably consumed by it. While we are entrusted with the care of this rock and its preservation for future generations, our due diligence is not a suggestion, but rather a mandate from our children, grand children and many generations to come.

The only problem is the money is leaving the country to support others while China and Canada are buying our debt. Ive been an industrial pipefitter most of my life. I know most of the you dont realize how difficult this work is. Its sad that this happened and that it didn’t have too. I wondered in the beggining why they didnt remove the flange after they cut the riser pipe and install a valve. I think if they had not have been pressured to do something quick they (bp) would have chose this procedure in the first. These men are some of the very best Craftsmen in the world. And I think even though it is tragic, we are fortunate to have these people working so hard to achieve these difficult tasks. Thank You BP and your Workers

It’s dumbfounding that it took them so long to make the headway they have. BP you’re really shown how your company is run. It is really hard to believe how a major cooperation like BP could be so incompetent. They have been doing this for over a 100 years! This just shows we give them too much credit. This is sad, so very sad.
The saddest part of the whole situation is that many people have lost their livelihood. BP will go on, this won’t slow them down that much. But what about the small local businesses? They won’t see much of the money BP has to pay.
