Nice job, Jane - and fun post - thanks for sharing it!

Educators and other advocates should know that the Maine Energy Education Program (statewide) and the Move Program (York County & north?) can bring in fun and educational transportation-related presentations for students during the school year.

Also, the Maine Safe Routes to School Program (MaineDOT) and the Bicycle Coalition of Maine can help local champions bring in free bicycle & pedestrian safety education for children and adults - as well as technical assistance (and potential infrastructure funding) for improving bike-ped safety and encouraging more students to walk & bike to school.

Dr. Johnson is right - the impact can be much greater than we may initially think!

It is great that you are reaching out to young people with projects that will make them think about important issues as they relate to themselves. I believe that the impact is much greater then most adults suspect unless they have had a personal memory of such early efforts in their own lives.
