BOSTON, MA October 20, 2011 – Seth Kaplan, Vice President for Policy and Climate Advocacy, Conservation Law Foundation, said, “The energy efficiency achievements the Commonwealth of Massachusetts is being recognized for today are impressive. However, while we applaud the progress this Administration has made, there is much more to be done. No state, including Massachusetts, has yet to fully tap into the deep reservoir of efficiency resources that surround us. We must continue to transform and strengthen the state, regional and federal programs and markets that allow us to reduce emissions while saving ratepayers money and building local businesses and jobs. We need to aggressively strengthen the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI), which has helped fuel our nation leading efficiency efforts, while continuing to assess and reform the structure and operation of our efficiency programs. While we have much to be proud of, we have much more to do if we are going to meet the challenge presented by climate change and build a clean energy economy. This is no time to rest on our laurels.”
