Ivy Frignoca Named Staff Attorney, Conservation Law Foundation Maine

Portland, ME  January 5, 2012 – Ivy Frignoca has been named staff attorney of Conservation Law Foundation (CLF), it was announced today by Sean Mahoney, vice president & director, CLF Maine. Frignoca joins CLF after an extensive career as a trial attorney preceded by years of work for the Vermont Agency of Natural Resources.

In her new role, Frignoca will use her trial experience to bolster CLF’s efforts to ensure clean air and water for Maine and New England communities, and to foster solutions to Maine’s transportation challenges. She will work closely with Mahoney, senior staff attorney Greg Cunningham, and CLF’s environmental partners to advance environmental solutions that benefit both the state and the region as a whole.

In making the announcement, Mahoney said, “We are very pleased to have attracted not only an attorney with extensive experience in Maine’s courts such as Ivy, but also one with a strong background prior to her legal career of working with diverse stakeholders to address the challenges and opportunities of natural resource use in another New England state.”

Frignoca’s background spans legal and scientific work. Prior to joining CLF, Frignoca had a diverse civil trial practice, and clerked for Chief Justice Wathen of the Maine Supreme Judicial Court. Before becoming an attorney, Frignoca worked as assistant state naturalist and chief of conservation education, a section tasked with serving as spokesperson on issues regarding natural resources and conservation.

Frignoca received her JD from University of Maine, where she graduated Cum Laude and won numerous awards for advocacy, and her BA from the University of Vermont, where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa and Cum Laude. She is an avid outdoorswoman, who particularly enjoys Nordic skiing, hiking, and gardening.
