BOSTON, MA February 4, 2013 – Conservation Law Foundation (CLF), a leading environmental advocacy organization focused on New England, announced that Kate Saunders has joined the organization as Vice President for Development.
Ms. Saunders joins CLF from The Trustees of Reservations, where she was most recently Vice President for Advancement, a position she held since 2006. She joined The Trustees of Reservations in 2000 as Capital Campaign Director. In that role, she planned and executed a $100 million Landscapes and Landmarks Campaign, the largest capital campaign for a conservation organization in Massachusetts history.
“Kate is a consummate professional and highly-skilled fundraiser who knows our region well and is well-known by the conservation community in Massachusetts and beyond,” said John Kassel, President of CLF. “As a lifelong New Englander who is now raising her family here, her passion for our mission to protect New England’s environment for the benefit of all people runs deep. We are very excited for Kate to apply her energy, creativity and intellect to growing CLF as we approach our fiftieth anniversary in 2016.”
Ms. Saunders commented, “CLF’s environmental success stories – from the clean-up of Boston Harbor to the shut-down of polluting coal plants to the preservation of wild places – are at the heart of New England’s prosperity. As climate change places new challenges on our region, I am looking forward to helping CLF build on the organization’s strong foundation of support and its members’ great desire to keep New England thriving for generations to come.”
Prior to The Trustees of Reservations, Ms. Saunders worked in major gifts and campaigns at Harvard School of Public Health, Children’s Hospital Boston and Massachusetts Audubon Society. She holds two degrees from Dartmouth College: a Bachelor of Arts in Art History and a Master of Arts in Liberal Studies. Ms. Saunders is a resident of Needham, Massachusetts, where she lives with her husband and two children.
