Press Statement on Wind Energy Siting Reform Act

(February 4, 2010) Conservation Law Foundation issued the following statement following passage in the Massachusetts Senate of the Wind Energy Siting Reform Act:

“To realize its vision for a new clean energy economy, Massachusetts needs to tap into its abundant wind energy resources,” said Sue Reid, staff attorney at Conservation Law Foundation, and director of its Clean Energy and Climate Change program.  “We applaud the Massachusetts Senate for giving a green light to legislation that will pave the way for well-designed wind energy projects, while protecting natural resources and engaging local stakeholders in the process. This bill represents a key milestone in the state’s ongoing efforts to enable clean energy solutions that will bolster our economy, and reduce our dependence on dirty, unstable fossil-fuel generated power throughout Massachusetts.  We urge the House of Representatives to propel this legislation forward without delay.”
