Sara Molyneaux Elected Chairman of Conservation Law Foundation Board of Trustees

Noted Conservationist, Former Chemist Continues CLF’s Distinguished Leadership Legacy as First Female Chair

BOSTON, MA  November 14, 2012 – Sara Molyneaux, a resident of Dover, Massachusetts, has assumed the role of Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Conservation Law Foundation (CLF), it was announced today by John Kassel, President of CLF. Molyneaux, who has served on CLF’s Board since 1998, succeeds Michael Moskow, Chairman since 2002. “Sara is a passionate environmental steward who lives CLF’s mission daily,” said Kassel. “Through her deep involvement in her local communities and her personal commitment to living sustainably, Sara walks the talk. That hands-on sensibility and Sara’s unusual savvy about the issues affecting communities throughout our region will strengthen our connection to the people and places that we are striving to protect. On behalf of the entire Board of Trustees, I am looking forward to Sara’s strong leadership as we grapple with the changing needs of our region, our country and our world in the face of climate change.”

Molyneaux is active in land conservation and environmental issues, particularly in her hometown of Dover. She aided the Town of Dover in achieving mandated recycling, an Integrated Pest Management mosquito control program, a regional Land Bank home rule petition, and the purchase of the Wylde Woods. In addition to her Board role at CLF, she serves on the boards of the Upper Charles Conservation Land Trust, Inc., and the Dover Land Conservation Trust. Together with CLF, Molyneaux also works to further the goal of nutrient pollution abatement in the southern embayments of Cape Cod.

Molyneaux was formerly a research chemist in biomass-to-energy projects converting agricultural wastes and seaweeds into bio-diesel, for industry and the Department of Energy. She holds a B.A. from Wesleyan University.

Molyneaux is CLF’s fifth Board chair in the organization’s 46 year history. She joins a small and distinguished group of leaders, which includes the late Massachusetts Governor Francis Sargent, State Representative Francis Hatch and attorney Charles Cabot, Jr., and the outgoing Board chair, Michael Moskow, a real estate developer. Molyneaux said, “I am honored to follow in the footsteps of such passionate, generous and dedicated leaders. Michael’s steady hand on the tiller through organizational changes and a crippling recession has kept CLF strong, effective and poised to take on the most pressing challenges of our times. I am looking forward to working with John and our wonderful Trustees to keep CLF at the forefront of New England’s environmental movement.”

 

Board Elections Held

Molyneaux assumed leadership of the Board following the organization’s Trustees meeting yesterday, November 13. At the meeting, the following Trustees were elected to 3-year terms:

  • Andrew Falender (MA), former President of Appalachian Mountain Club
  • Douglas Foy (MA), Partner at Serrafix, former President of CLF
  • John Hammond (MA) Consultant, former Harvard Business School professor
  • Whitney Hatch (MA) Senior Strategist at United Republic
  • Thaleia Schlesinger (MA) President, Schlesinger & Associates
  • John Kassel (MA/VT), President of CLF
