Renewable Energy in New England

To confront the threat of climate change and to reduce our dangerous dependence upon finite fossil fuels, New England must embrace a diverse portfolio of renewable energy generation, tapping into resources that are naturally replenished and permanently sustainable. Fortunately, our region has bountiful renewable energy resources, including wind, hydroelectric power, solar energy, and certain types of biomass.

CLF is supporting policies in each of the New England states to provide critical incentives for renewable energy generation. These include renewable energy portfolio standard (RPS) programs, which require that a certain amount of electricity be generated from renewable sources. CLF is also advocating for critical transmission upgrades so new renewable energy projects can connect to the regional electricity grid and supply homes and businesses throughout New England with affordable, clean power.
