The CLF Team

Ben Carmichael is CLF’s Senior Communications Manager. In his role, Ben develops the messaging and stories that flow through CLF’s communications, from press releases to blog posts and Twitter updates. He manages media relations, as well as the CLF website, blog, social media sites and print publications.

Prior to CLF, Ben held various positions in both start ups and nonprofits. He was the Director of Creative & Editorial for 2degrees, a global sustainable business network. Prior to that, he was a communications consultant to the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC), where he was a ghostwriter, blogger and regulator contributor to On Earth. He has also consulted for such companies as BluSkye and the Sustainable Apparel Coalition. He has published in The Huffington Post and the Yale Forum on Climate Change & the Media, and worked for The New Yorker.

Ben graduated from Brown University and earned a masters in Environmental Change and Management from Oxford University’s Environmental Change Institute, where he studied on a Marshall Scholarship. Having grown up in Falmouth, Maine, Ben is an avid fly fisherman, cyclist and skier.
