Conservation Law Foundation (CLF) is seeking a Staff Attorney to work on litigation and policy matters across New England. The position will be exempt and based out of CLF’s Boston office.
What you’ll do
The Staff Attorney will work in both the Clean Air & Water program and the Healthy Communities & Environmental Justice program. In these programs, the Staff Attorney will be involved in litigation across the program’s priorities and will promote solutions to the region’s biggest environmental challenges using policy tools and legislative advocacy.
Under the Clean Air & Water Program, the work will focus on Clean Air Act and Clean Water Act enforcement cases as well as on advocacy for clean and safe drinking water, including PFAS-related regulatory actions.
Under the Healthy Communities & Environmental Justice Program, the Staff Attorney will collaborate with and support community-based frontline environmental justice partners seeking to change the balance of power and decision-making on environmental, climate, and public health issues that impact their communities.
What you’ll need
CLF is looking for a motivated and mature self-starter able to work both independently and as a productive team member. Experience in a non-profit, public interest, interdisciplinary and/or community-engaged advocacy setting is highly desirable. To be successful in this role, you’ll need:
- Litigation experience at state court, federal district court, and/or appellate levels;
- Experience working with state and federal environmental laws (municipal law experience is a plus);
- At least three years of experience practicing law;
- An understanding of the concepts of institutional racism and bias and their impact on underserved and underrepresented communities;
- The ability to build networks and coalitions; and
- The ability to manage multiple advocacy projects at once.
CLF offers a competitive salary, an extensive benefits plan, and an open, inclusive, and accepting work environment where differences are highly respected.
Conservation Law Foundation (CLF) protects New England’s environment for the benefit of all people. A non-profit, member-supported organization, CLF uses the law, science and the market to solve the region’s most challenging environmental problems from climate change to ocean conservation to transportation. Every day, CLF advocates stand up for New Englanders—in state houses, court houses and board rooms, regulatory hearings and community gatherings—to forge innovative paths to environmental progress and economic prosperity for all in our region. To that end, CLF works with communities of color, and those that are economically or otherwise disadvantaged, who often suffer disproportionately from the impacts of environmental degradation.
