Zak Griefen is CLF’s Senior Enforcement Litigator. Based out of the Vermont Advocacy Center, Zak works in the Clean Water & Healthy Forests program with a focus on civil litigation under the Clean Water Act. Prior to joining CLF, Zak worked as a litigation attorney at Cheney, Brock & Saudek, P.C. and clerked at the Vermont Environmental Court. Zak graduated from Vermont Law School on a full merit scholarship in 2005, where he earned a J.D., cum laude, and a Master of Studies in Environmental Law, magna cum laude. He received his undergraduate degree, cum laude, from the University of New Mexico in 2002. During law school, he was the Vermont Editor of the Vermont Law Review and a student clinician at the Environmental and Natural Resources Law Clinic. In 2004 he worked as a summer associate at the Conservation Law Foundation. Zak Griefen is a member of the Vermont and American Bar Associations and is admitted to practice law in Vermont, Federal District Court of Vermont, Massachusetts, Federal District Court of Massachusetts, Federal District Court of Connecticut, Federal District Court of New Hampshire, and the Second Circuit Court of Appeals.
