Take Action Now: Tell Massachusetts Senators to Support Clean Energy Bill

Greg Cunningham | @GregCLF

The challenge of climate change demands nothing less than a dramatic reduction in greenhouse gas emissions and a transition to locally made clean energy. In Massachusetts, we have an opportunity to take action to cut climate-warming pollution before it’s too late.

Tomorrow, the Massachusetts Senate is debating Bill S. 2372, “An Act to Promote Energy Diversity.” CLF strongly supports this bill, which will ensure that Massachusetts takes bold action to counter climate change and move our state toward a future built on the cleanest energy possible to power our homes and businesses.

But this bill could be even bolder.

Contact your senator today. Thank them for their leadership on climate change and ask them to make S. 2372 stronger.

Ask your senator to support key amendments to S. 2372 that would prohibit charging electricity customers for the cost of building unnecessary new natural gas pipelines and fix existing gas leaks throughout the state, which threaten homes, neighborhoods, and our climate.

Please ask your senator to also support an amendment that would require stronger assessment of the environmental impacts of big transmission projects that run through Northern New England’s treasured scenic areas.

The debate on this bill and these critical amendments starts tomorrow. Please don’t wait. It takes just a few minutes to contact your senator. Take action now.

With your help, Massachusetts can lead the way to a safer and healthier future for all.
