November 5, 2026 (Providence, RI) – Revolution Wind’s 65-turbine offshore wind project has reached full power and is delivering clean, affordable energy to New England just before the winter season. At full power, the project generates enough electricity to power 350,000 homes in Rhode Island and Connecticut.

“Revolution Wind is a victory for our region and a significant step toward a cleaner, more affordable, reliable, and sustainable energy future,” said Anxhela Mile, Conservation Law Foundation staff attorney. “Offshore wind projects like Revolution Wind are clear examples of what we can achieve when we invest in homegrown, clean energy. These clean energy projects create jobs, deliver locally generated power, and help provide an affordable, stable source of electricity at a time when families and businesses are struggling with rising fossil fuel costs.”

Ocean winds in New England are strongest in the winter months. When frigid weather shuts down dirty, expensive fuel systems, as it did earlier this year, offshore wind has proven to persist. Revolution Wind’s full power will add to the pool of affordable, reliable energy that does not spike in cost or buckle under the pressure of New England’s colder temperatures. The contracts provide price certainty for Rhode Island and Connecticut customers for the next 20 years. More generation on the grid will help to ensure that families and businesses across the region keep the lights on and stay warm without draining their wallets or polluting the planet.

Revolution Wind joins two other offshore wind projects that are delivering power to homes in New England and New York. Vineyard Wind finished installation of its 62 turbines in the waters off Massachusetts that will power 400,000 homes and businesses. South Fork Wind, located less than 20 miles from Block Island, powers 70,000 homes and businesses on Long Island with a dozen turbines.

Together, these three projects will continue to provide reliable, homegrown energy and prevent more than 3 million tons of carbon from fouling our air and lungs each year by replacing fossil fuels. That’s the equivalent of taking more than 650,000 cars off the road. Revolution Wind will also save the region an estimated $500 million by 2028 in electricity costs, according to the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.
