Governor Maura Healey has appointed Conservation Law Foundation’s (CLF) Staci Rubin to the Commonwealth Utilities Commission, which oversees the Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities (DPU). Staci has served as CLF’s Vice President of Environmental Justice since 2021 and joined the organization in 2019.

“I’m thrilled to see Staci’s talent recognized in her appointment to this essential post,” said CLF President Brad Campbell. “In an era of high cynicism about politics, it is telling that Governor Healey has chosen Staci based on her leadership skills, her legal acumen, and her principled commitment to the public interest and social justice. Massachusetts communities are better off because of the leadership Staci will provide in transitioning to clean energy and advancing environmental justice.”

Staci joins Cecile Fraser on the three-member commission, who approved an important order designed to increase electric vehicle adoption in Massachusetts in December. Governor Healey also announced the appointment of Jamie Van Nostrand today.

In her new role, Staci and the rest of the commission will lead all activities at the state’s Department of Public Utilities, which includes oversight of electric and gas utilities, energy siting, and public safety.

CLF experts are available for comment.
