October 20, 2025 (New Haven, CT) – Governor Ned Lamont has nominated a new slate of commissioners to the Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA). PURA is an important state agency that regulates the cost of electricity and the future of the state’s energy sources. Conservation Law Foundation (CLF) released the following statement in response.

“We are encouraged by Governor Lamont’s nominations to PURA, including consumer advocate Thomas Wiehl as chair,” said Greg Cunningham, vice president for clean energy and climate change at CLF. “We’re hopeful that the new nominees will have the courage to protect families from unaffordable energy prices while allowing utilities to earn enough to maintain their businesses and invest in our state’s grid. Our decision makers must now focus on the road ahead and build a more reliable and affordable energy future for everyone.”

CLF experts are available for further comment.
