September 3, 2025 (Boston, MA) – The Trump administration has moved again to gut another offshore wind project that would power homes and businesses in New England with clean, local energy. The Interior Department indicated it would revoke permits for New England Wind, which, when fully built out, will power 900,000 homes in Massachusetts. This move follows the administration saying it would reconsider the permit for SouthCoast Wind off of Nantucket, which would eventually power 840,000 homes in Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

“By systematically trying to kill offshore wind projects like SouthCoast Wind and New England Wind, the Trump administration is actively sabotaging our energy future—gutting a vital source of reliable local, clean power and weakening our ability to meet growing energy demands, all to serve the interests of the fossil fuel industry,” said Nick Krakoff, Conservation Law Foundation senior attorney.

Last month, the administration halted construction on Revolution Wind, a nearly complete offshore wind project near Rhode Island that will produce energy to power 400,000 homes in Rhode Island and Connecticut. The move to stop Revolution Wind, a fully permitted project, is a violation of the law and a dramatic overreach that must be reversed by the courts.
