David Ismay, an attorney with the Conservation Law Foundation, said the group could end up filing lawsuits if the EPA does not enforce existing laws such as the Clean Water Act.
“If it’s the case the EPA is being shut down or slowed down, you could see us jumping into the breach,” Ismay said.
Since Election Day, CLF has seen a huge spike in donations and memberships, Ismay said. Overall monthly memberships have increased by more than 50 percent since the election and the number of new donors jumped 437 percent the month after Trump won the White House compared to the same period in 2014.
