June 15, 2023 (BOSTON, MA) – Conservation Law Foundation (CLF) has notified Twin Rivers Technologies of its intent to sue the company for ongoing Clean Water Act and Clean Air Act violations. The Quincy glycerin manufacturing facility is polluting the Weymouth-Fore River and the Town River Bay with oil and grease, heavy metals, and other harmful substances. The facility is also emitting dangerous amounts of volatile organic chemicals (VOCs) and other air pollutants into nearby neighborhoods.

The stench and unlawful air emissions from Twin Rivers spread miles beyond the property. For several years, local community members have complained about terrible smells and loud noises coming from the facility.

“Twin Rivers has been given a free pass to violate the law and pollute Quincy and other nearby communities for far too long,” said CLF attorney Erica Kyzmir-McKeon. “Everyone has a right to clean air and water. This is why CLF will continue to push Twin Rivers to end this illegal pollution once and for all.”

Twin Rivers is violating federal limits and standards contained in its stormwater and wastewater permit as well as its Title V air permit and Comprehensive Plan Approvals.

CLF experts are available for further comment.
